Hi there-- you were one of the helpful people that just answered my questions and didn't give your personal attacks-- I appreciate it. I thought this website was for friendly advice- not overbearing people to make you feel dumb for asking a question-- but you helped me, and I wanted to say thanks. Have a good day :)
529 Plans are owned by the Account Owner. That is the individual that opened the account. There are held "for the benefit" of a minor for elidgeble education expenses. The only way they are gitfted to a minor is through a Notorized Acct Transfer replacing the ownership. This is not recommended and defeats the purpose of 529 Plans. If you want to gift to a minor, use a UGTM.
Thank you for all of your advice and your patience. I appreciate your kindness to a foreinger.
