    Child Support

    I would like to know if I can get Retroactive CS back to me cause one of my kids is no longer is in school and dropped out on 1-9-09. I am trying to get CS stopped on her, and she will be 20 yrs old in June.

    You need to check your support orders and see what your obligation is as far as the duration of providing support and the conditions.  If the one of the conditions is that you should only pay support until the child is in school past the age of 19, then you have to notify the support agency, assuming they are involved and have them audit their account and give you credit.

    Probably not.  You get relief from the date of filing. So file your complaint to stop child support asap.

    Laymans take;

    Not withstanding that  published  FL guidelines say that CS automatically terminates once child hits 18 and is not in school--the above poster is a FL attorney and my guess is he is right that nothing gets done until you petition for same. In your example you might bear burden to show when the child dropped out of school.

    Me, I'd get a petition filed this week !
