On Tuesday July 28, the air conditioner unit went out at our residence. We had [a company] at this time and they could not get a reputable repair company out to us in a timely manner. So we contacted another Air Conditioning company - [name removed]. A representative and another guy came out and provided an estimate. At no time did they say that there would be a problem installing any item from the air unit outside and the heating unit in the attic. They where given the OK to start work and they wanted to start that evening. They left the house at 3 a.m. stating that they would be back tomorrow to recalibrate the unit. By morning the air was only blowing out hot air. We got a city inspector to come out and twice the same inspector failed the unit because of the 2x4 that is part of the frame of the house was made part of the heating unit. I, personally stayed home to ask the inspector to tell me exactly what was wrong and he drew out what was there and what they needed to do. [name removed] could not get back out till the following Saturday morning. The two techs then went up and did changes to the heating duct. A different inspector came and passed the job. We just had [another company] come out yesterday and provide us with a Home Energy Check. The Advisor stated on his comments: [name removed] supply plenum has 2x4 running through it, which may restrict air flow and is within inches of a 10 kW heat strip coil. This may effect system performance and may be a fire hazard. Return plenum is also obstructed by a 2x4. Recommend that this be re evaluated. This was signed off by a City of St Petersburg Inspector, who we also want investigated!! As a unsupected consumer, now how do I get this fire hazard removed and make [the company] along with the City Inspector held responsible for this?
