Breach of Contract question

My father signed a contract for a copier. The copier never worked properly and my father owns a printing company. No matter how many time the servicemen came in from the copier company they could not fix it and admitted it was a problem copier (all documented).

The copier company would not replace the machine and could not fix it. My dad told them take it out of here and stopped paying the lease.

Now my father has a breach of contact lawsuit against him as well as a motion for default (today).

I would like to have my father reply with his affimitive defense and demand a trial by jury if possible. How do you go about requesting a trial by jury in Florida? My father plans on relpying to the motion with an affimitive defense and he would like to demand a trial by jury.

Also my father is being sued in Tampa FL and he is in FT myers almost 2 hrs away. Is this right?
