SSI/SSDI, Medicare, inheritance and buying a home.

Im possibly going to receive an inheritance in the coming year, if so will I lose my SSI/SSDI and Medicare benefits?  I have heard it's possible to take an inheritance and buy a home without losing my benefits and medical insurance???   What can happen and how can I protect myself?

I'd be doing some serious poking around on the SSA website and look for the answers to those questions.

Or consult a social security attorney.

SSDI, No.  Bill Gates could collect SSDI if he otherwise qualified.

Medicare, No.  If you have been in receipt of SSDI for two years, you qualify to obtain Medicare.

SSI.  Yes, you probably will lose that one for a time.  SSI is a means tested program.  If you have too much money, you will lose that benefit.

But I do not think home counts against SSI so sort out if you quickly convert inheritance to uncounted assets  if that hurts you much
