    spending money before filing chapter 7

    Hello all;

    I went into a bad business deal with friends and wound up the only one responsible for debt. i fronted money for the business with a home equity loan and other personal money. when the business finaly collapsed i found out my partners made me the only one financially responsible. Anyway i have been trying to file bankrupcy for over a year or better and my lawyer is slow as hell. tried for chap 13 but it got dismissed and not sure why, i have now been unemployed for 10 months and lawyer told me last summer we can try for chapter 7 BUT i have some personal mutual funds and cash between 20-30K, he says that i have to spend some of it wisely and some may be used to pay off these debts. i may be able to spend some on paying current bills, maybe pay future bills he says like car insurance for a year etc...  I was wondering what else i can spend money on, i need some home improvements clothing, . i just dont want to lose more money anymore i mean its going to cost me 20k to file bankrupcy thats's BS.

    any ideas???

    Some folks do all but suggest  a spending spree prior to bankrucoy and a transfer of assets prior to lookback period--now most of that is pretty transparent and where  the line in sand is is beyond me--I'd want a second opinion .
