secret service came to my house

They knocked, I answered, 1st thing they said was were not here to arrest you we got no cuffs.  I asked what do they want, they said were just here to ask questions can we step inside.  I asked them if they have a warrant?  "They said no we just want to talk".  I then shut the door on them.  They kept knocking for 5 mins and I opened again, they said we are only here to help me.  I asked how?  Again they asked if they can step inside because they didn't want to make me look bad infront of my neighbors.  I said I dont care annd I have a problem with strangers entering my house without my consent.  They opened a file and asked me if I was some person in the photo. I said no.  He said am I sure cause that looks like me?  I told him is that how your trying to help by accusing me of being someone I said im not?  Then I told him I won't be answering anymore questions without a lawyer present and slammed the door on them.  He said what do you need a lawyer for?  And his partner said thank you for your time and they left.  Will me acting obnoxious toward them and not letting them in my house give them a reason to come back tommorow with a search/arrest warrant?  What do I do from here?

The only answer to that is possibly.  Without knowing why they were looking for the person in the photo and what other evidence they have there is no way to predict whether they will return or not.

If it were me I would at least make a phone call to a criminal defense attorney or two and ask their advice on that question.  That way if the Secret Service does insist on questioning you, you already have a head start on securing counsel for that event.

He said what do you need a lawyer for?

A typical question meant to goad a potential suspect into "unburdening" themselves and to continue to talk.  Smart move on your part telling them no more discussion without a lawyer.  If they do indeed return what ever attorney you hire will LOVE you for not having diarrhea of the mouth and having to mitigate any dammage caused by it.

I agree. You did great turning them away.

Line up a lawyer so you have the number with you if they come back.

Then say nothing without the lawyer present.

Did they come without a warrant because they couldn't get one?  They didn't even know my name.  The guy in the photo was wearing a baseball cap.  Can they get a warrant with such bleak information? If they wanted to come and arrest me or search my house why warn me 1st?  Thanks for your help.

There's no way to speculate about any of that.

Call a lawyer in the AM and just be prepared for the worst. Maybe nothing will come of it.
