Im Canadian -What happens if I ignore my U.S Speeding ticket

    Hi All...

I was in the State of Nevada last week when I got a ticket, 80mph in a 70mph zone.  The ticket states I was clocked at 92mph but reduced to 80mph.

Now that I am back home, im just wondering what happens if I ignore it?  Will they really issue a warrant for my arrest for a traffic infraction?  Is there anything they can do, considering we are neighbours?  What if I go back to Nevada in a year?

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    thanks

Yes, and if you should get stopped for a minor traffic violation or something on a subsequent trip to the US and that warrant is discovered, you could be detained or arested.  Not saying it will happen, just that it could.  Those things have a way of popping up at the most inopportune times.  So why not just pay the fine and forget about it?

I would suggest you just pay the ticket, and not find out someday what will happen.  You don't want to worry for the rest of your life, every time you return to the US do you?

Your other option, of course, is to fight the ticket.  That may or may not be worth it to you.

As you already have been informed, you may (in the future) risk Border Crossings.  If your job took you to Nevada, it may again in the future.  Why burn a bridge, by not paying a minimal (I'm guessing $100.00 or less) fine?

Good decision.  Also, I recommend you keep your copy of your receipt of payment in a safe place (Don't lose it), and consider carrying it with you, in the event you are hassled about this if/when you return to the U.S.
