    We Need an Ignore Feature

Since there is at least ONE poster whose favorite sport seems to be following around the regulars who try to help and deliberately inciting issues via argumentative and downright dangerous direct advice can we get an "ignore" feature so that we don't have to listen to it?  It would certainly help.  One other board I participate in and it makes reading/responding to thread so much easier when you can put the random nut cases on ignore.  It also keeps from being pulled into it with them.

Who makes the decision who 'the random nut job is" ?  I'm sure you wouldn't want to see your threads deleted because someone didn't agree with your position or thought that of your responses..  The majority of input here could be considered "argumentative and downright dangerous".  All you have to do is not respond and not argue;  a person can't argue with themselves- but the majority here enjoy that part of it.

Actually, I think what ClydesMom is talking about would be a personal ignore feature (each user selects those users they want to ignore).

So it would be a personal feature for each user, where they could select those users they want to ignore.

I've used this sort of feature on other boards.  Of course, you tend get half the conversation of a post, when people are responding to a person you have placed on ignore.

So it's a feature they you could simply choose to not user if you wanted.

I already have a personal "ignore" feature.

Don't need to explain it, do I?

    Hi,

I can certainly look into program option(s). It would, as noted below, leave some conversations fragmented.

The goal is to help the poster and keeping that as a focus may help in deciding whether or not to respond to a specific thread/comment. Opting not to engage is an option, and on a level, a response. This may mean walking away from a thread after making your point.

That is what I was referring to.  Too early this morning and not enough coffee.  On other boards where there are some posters who tend to disintegrate rapidly into baseless diatribes or personal vendettas an "ignore this poster" feature does fragment a thread but makes it easier to enjoy the boards without the nonsense.

    It's a thought.
